Mid-range 16/32/64-slice; flagship aggregated buy with 7-year CMC.
The range above is an indicative planning figure taken from our own research, not a quotation and not an offer. buytogethr is pre-launch and has closed no pools.
A CT purchase is a room, not a machine. The quote should cover gantry and table, tube and detector configuration, reconstruction software, injector, reporting workstation and PACS link, the turnkey civil work with lead shielding, chiller, stabiliser and UPS, applications training, and the service years that follow. Quotes diverge on detector rows, reconstructed slices, tube heat capacity and cooling rate, rotation time, dose-modulation and reconstruction methods, and above all on what is bundled and what is quoted separately. The common error is comparing headline slice counts and machine prices while tube cover, tube replacement terms and the scope of the maintenance contract sit outside the figure being compared, so the cheapest quote turns out to be the most expensive installation.
CT is the flagship category for aggregation. Mid-range configurations standardise into a single technical specification that several institutions can sign, yet each institution buys one machine at a time and negotiates alone. The supply side is unusually concentrated: the Competition Commission of India found the top five OEMs accounted for about 98% of installed CT machines in India. Concentration is a problem for a lone buyer and an opportunity for a group, because a small field of qualified OEMs competing for a combined requirement is a genuine contest. The service contract is where an isolated buyer has least leverage, and it is the larger half of a ten-year figure.
